Foodfest in 41

Joel was late – again. But this time he seemed deeply disturbed by something. His tale was chilling: his home is apparently under attack by the rare North American Barking Mariachi Dwarf Yeti (try saying that ten times really fast). I kid you not. Truly frightening. Don’t take my word for it – watch this chilling video:

I fear for his family – but it still doesn’t excuse him from kicking me under the table. Twice. What was up with that?

While the scary yeti story may have been the lowlight of the afternoon (way to bring us all down, Joel), the highlight was undoubtedly the greeting we received from Steve Irwin, the Crocodile HunterCafeteria_41_002 , upon entering Bldg 41. Who knew he was a junior SDET working in the Visual Studio product group?

John was right – there is much less chaos in the Bldg 41 cafeteria. I was pleasantly surprised. A sign that says “order here” over by the grill. What a wonderful concept. Maybe Bldg 43 Cafeteria will incorporate this best practice into their own establishment. (maybe they should add it to their commitments for the year) Although what the sam hill is the deal with the backup at receiving? When I want my plastic fork and non-Aloe-kissed napkin, I want them now. Don’t stand between a man and his disposable utensils, my friends.

I decided on the taco salad for lunch this day. Mexican food really is my safety food. I can never get enough of the stuff. Authentic or Americanized – it’s all the same to me. Fills the tummy, and you can find it just about anywhere. The stewed chicken was actually not bad today. Someone must have gone shopping at Costco, because the meat was tender and juicy, not the typical cafeteria-grade chewy substance. And while I recognize that they can’t legally offer their patrons anything remotely close to spicy, can someone please make some salsa slightly warmer than room temperature? I haven’t tasted anything in this state that even registers. I miss Una Mas and 360 degree Gourmet Burrito (and their salsa bars). I could go for an el cheapo right about now…

Oh yeah, and Dave was nowhere to be found – again. His problem is not having a cell phone. Dave….enter the 21st century, man. Get a cell phone.

I’m out.
